Aaron Long lives in Toronto, Canada. He has been obsessed with animation all his life, growing up on a steady stream of classic cartoons. After a high school apprenticeship at Chuck Gammage Animation, he started studying at Max the Mutt Animation School in 2009. Aaron’s other interests include comics, old music and old movies. “Fester Goes Fishing” is the second in his series of Fester Fish cartoons, mainly inspired by theatrical cartoons from the 1930s and 40s.

This ones a good one!
One of the aspects of this cartoon that makes it so great is actually something that I teach in my class.Aaron has his story structure that works, but he uses these insane twisted gags to get us from point a to b. Fester is excited about going fishing, and Aaron shows it from the POV of a toilet. Or Fester getting to the gates of the castle in a series of great morphing gags. These are classic cartoon elements, and Aaron, in his young career, is already on his path to mastering them.
Great cartoon.
This show is awesome! I love the comedy and your use of visual gags. I was just wondering if you could tell me how long it took to make and did you use paper or computer animation?
This is such a perfect cartoon for KaboingTV. I loved the other Fester Fish cartoon that Aaron did last year. I would love to see more of these in the future.
brilliant!
Thanks for the nice comments so far, everyone! More Fester cartoons are on the way. Reid, it took me about six months for the animation, plus two for pre-production work. I used Flash for the animation, drawing directly into it with a Wacom tablet. No paper was used for the animation process, although I did draw a lot of sketches early on, and did really rough, tiny storyboards on paper for most of it, before doing more detailed animatic/storyboard in Flash.
If anybody else has any more comments, questions or criticisms, I’ll be happy to respond to them!
I saw this on Cartoon Brew and instantly noticed at the many funny drawings here. In my opinion, that’s one of the most important parts about watching a good cartoon. People want to be entertained by real, fun, likable characters that not only do funny things, but also move and act in a certain way as well. I also like how Aaron injects his own personality and point of view in the film while paying tribute to the greats of the past, rather than just copying what they did for all the wrong reasons.
This cartoon is hilarious.

Whats the influence on his drunk girl
Glad you liked Fester’s girlfriend Blottie– people seem to love her or hate her. Ralph Bakshi may have been a subconscious influence, cause I have seen some of his films. Blottie is sort of a combination of Betty Boop, Edith Bunker, and Barney Gumble. In the first Fester cartoon, I was just trying to subvert the audience’s expectation of Fester’s girlfriend looking like him in drag, as is common for old cartoon characters (Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Petunia Pig, Honey, etc) but then I decided to keep her in the series.
